Abstract

Artificial intelligence is becoming deeply embedded within SAP S/4HANA Transportation Management, reshaping the way enterprises plan, execute, and optimize their logistics operations. The integration of predictive analytics, machine learning, generative AI and conversational planning introduces new layers of automation and accuracy within transportation processes. These advancements support enhanced routing, load planning, freight cost optimization, multimodal planning, digital document interpretation, and end to end visibility. The review synthesizes insights from contemporary literature and industry implementations to explore how AI technologies are redefining transportation management functions in SAP S4HANA environments. In addition, the paper highlights future potential for intelligent transportation systems that leverage real time signals, dynamic optimization, sustainability modelling, predictive planning and AI enabled network simulation.
