A QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS OF TRENDS AND GROWTH PATTERNS OF FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT IN INDIA
Main Article Content
Abstract
Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) plays a significant role in supporting economic growth by supplementing domestic capital formation and facilitating technology transfer in developing economies. India has experienced notable variations in FDI inflows over time, influenced by policy reforms and global economic conditions. This study presents a quantitative analysis of the trends and growth patterns of FDI inflows in India for the period 2010–2024. Using secondary data obtained from official sources such as the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade and the Reserve Bank of India, the study adopts a descriptive research design supported by statistical measures including averages, percentages, and year-on-year growth rates. The results reveal a cyclical yet upward long-term trend in FDI inflows, with fluctuations reflecting macroeconomic shocks and policy interventions. The study highlights the usefulness of statistical trend analysis in understanding investment behaviour and provides empirical insights relevant for economic modelling and policy formulation.
