Abstract

Using the multipole method, the existence of a band-gap structure associated with wave scattering over arrays of submerged horizontal circular cylinders in deep water with ice cover is studied. The linear analysis is presented with numerical results also obtained by solving the infinite system of linear equations by standard techniques. The reflection and transmission energies are obtained and depicted graphically against the wave number for various values of flexural rigidity of the ice-cover to show the effect of the presence of ice cover on these energy quantities. Also, these are depicted graphically for various values of depth of the submergence of the two cylinders and distance between the cylinders in a number of figures. When the flexural rigidity is taken to be zero, the results coincide with the reflection and transmission energies on the circular cylinder for the cases of water
with a free surface.
