Abstract

This paper deals with the evaluation of reliability measures of oxygen plant supply system for hospitals. The oxygen supply system from the oxygen plant to the patient consists of six subsystems, namely sterilizing filter, oxygen booster pump, oxygen supply units, oxygen flow meter, gas mixer, and ventilator. The subsystem ‘oxygen supply unit’ contains two identical units: one is operative and other keep in cold standby. The distribution of failure times of each subsystem is taken as exponential, while the distribution of repair times of each subsystem is considered arbitrary. Supplementary variable technique and Laplace transform are used to evaluate the reliability, availability, mean time to failure, and profit of the oxygen plant supply system. The numerical results of the reliability measures and profit function are also obtained by taking particular values of the various parameters and repair cost.
