Abstract

The key information of images is typically embedded in their configuration, specifications, and surroundings. These components require unique processing techniques to improve image resolution adequately. In this paper, we develop a formula capable of significantly improving image sharpness and clarity using the point spread function (PSF) equation for a rectangular aperture and a triangular aperture optical system using Mathcad. The Hanning amplitude filter (β=0, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1) is applied as the image enhancement technique. The research addresses an optical system constrained by diffraction limits   (an ideal system). The two apertures of the optical system are compared, and the full width at half maximum of half of each curve, a measure of the spectral linewidth, is measured. The results are presented graphically.
