Abstract

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) has transformed traditional conceptions of cognition, challenging long-standing assumptions about the boundaries of human intelligence. While AI systems increasingly demonstrate capacities for reasoning, prediction, creativity, and adaptation, human intelligence remains multidimensional, shaped by the eight distinct forms articulated in Gardner’s theory: linguistic, logical-mathematical, spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalistic. Understanding how these intelligences interact with, complement, or are augmented by AI is essential for re-evaluating the evolving nature of human cognition.

This study explores the dynamic relationship between the eight human intelligences and artificial intelligence, arguing that contemporary technological environments create new forms of hybrid cognition in which the mind extends beyond biological constraints and “awakens outside the body.” Through a conceptual and analytical examination, the research investigates how AI amplifies specific intelligences, replicates others, and supports enhanced cognitive performance through pattern recognition, emotional simulation, data-driven reasoning, and creative generation. The study also considers how AI reshapes human self-awareness, decision-making, communication, and problem-solving by interacting with the core dimensions of interpersonal, intrapersonal, and logical intelligences.

The findings suggest that the convergence of human and artificial intelligence fosters a transformative cognitive paradigm in which intelligence becomes distributed across biological and technological systems. This synthesis enhances individual and collective capabilities, expands access to knowledge, and alters the way humans perceive, interpret, and interact with the world. The study contributes to the growing discourse on augmented cognition, offering theoretical insights for researchers, educators, technologists, and policymakers seeking to understand the future of intelligence in an AI-driven era. Ultimately, the research emphasizes that meaningful progress arises not from replacing human intelligence with machines, but from harmonizing the strengths of both to unlock higher forms of cognitive awakening
